Good day! Thanks for the letter! I am still in.. the Mykolayiv region. As you know, the situation in the South of Ukraine is challenging. Even though the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to oust the enemy from Mykolayiv, they did not leave our territories. They sit in villages on the border with the Kherson region and, of course, have full control over our airspace. Since last week, shelling of our region from planes, helicopters, and ships has increased dramatically, and salvo-fire systems have also been used. The enemy fires on Odessa and Mykolayiv on a daily basis. Yesterday morning, cynically and without warning, Mykolayiv was chaotically fired at with fragmentation cluster shells. It was scary. The air raid alarm was not turned on in time. The streets were full of people on Sunday: people were shopping at the market, and some went to work. Almost the entire small town came under fire. Mostly, cars and houses were damaged, but according to official data, the worst losses are 7 dead and more than 20 injured civilians... The orcs did not target military infrastructure or military facilities. They simply fired at peaceful Ukrainians. This is really genocide. After the footage from Bucha and other temporarily occupied cities, the whole world saw what the essence of the enemy is. We are deeply frightened…We believe in the Armed Forces. They are our guardian angels, but this is so scary to be constantly hearing the air alarm or going outside for grocery shopping. We are not safe anywhere. Your daily plan is – to survive another day. Nothing else matters ..external attributes and statuses have lost their meaning. Only those who are close do matter, and at the same time, you feel responsible for them.
I continue feeding stray animals. There are still people here in the city who do this.
We hold on. We do not have the internet fixed yet, so I am writing from my phone.
Thanks again for your letters!
Respectfully,
Oksana
